Did you see the discount you can get on optometry?

As a member of Discovery Health Medical Scheme, you could qualify for several benefits. One of these benefits is the Optometry Benefit. With the Optometry Benefit, you qualify for a discount of 20% on prescription frames and eyeglass lenses from an optometrist.

How the Optometry Benefit works.

We have a network of optometrists called the Discovery Health Optometry Network. If you visit an optometrist in this network, you will qualify for the discount of 20% on prescription frames and eyeglass lenses.

Find out if your optometrist is in the network

Remember, you need to visit an optometrist in our network to qualify for the discount. To find out if your optometrist is in the network, simply visit www.discovery.co.za and use the MaPS tool on your profile.

Health Plans that include the Optometry Benefit

The Optometry Benefit is available on all Health Plans except plans on the KeyCare range.

How we calculate the discount.

We calculate the 20% discount on the Optical Assistant Rate, which will be the Discovery Health “in-network” rate.

Example: R1 000 = Optical Assistant Rate, Discovery Health rate would be R1 000 – 20% = R800 The Optical Assistant Rate is a guide optometrists use for billing purposes.
