Team Vitality Cape Town Marathon competition – terms and conditions

This competition is being run by Discovery Vitality (Pty) Limited (also referred to in these terms and conditions by the terms “we”, “us” or “our”). We are offering you an opportunity to win a two nights stay for two at any Protea Hotel by Marriott® in South Africa for entering the Cape Town Marathon. This offer excludes flights and any ex-accommodation fees, is subject to availability, and applies only to members of Team Vitality who finish the race and earn Vitality fitness points for their participation.

• Entries open on the day of the race: Cape Town Marathon: 18 September (The) Winner/s will be announced by September 30 for Cape Town Marathon.
• In order to stand a chance to win, entrants must enter the races, complete it, and be awarded Vitality fitness points for participating.
• We retain full discretion to choose the winner. Our decision is final and cannot be contested.
• Entrants into the competition are required to reside in South Africa.
• The winner must contact their preferred hotel directly to book their stay.
• The prize may be redeemed within the time limit stipulated by Protea Hotels by Marriott®. The winner will be required to liaise with the hotel chain directly to book their travel and stay according to their own schedule and the vacancies of the various partners.
• Every entered Team Vitality member who enters the race and completes it will be eligible to be entered into the prize draw.
• The prize (or any other related aspect of the prize) is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
• Should you win the prize and not able to participate, then you have to provide notice within 24 hours by emailing vitcomps@discovery.co.za.
• Only accommodation will be covered for the prize winner and their (travelling) partner. Flights and extras are not included.
• In the event of sickness or injury, the entry into the prize can be deferred to later in the period.
• If the winner cannot take part in the prize, after accepting the prize, they will be required to inform us at least two weeks prior to the booking. This will enable us to manage the expenses we incur for accommodation. If you cannot participate due to medical reasons, you will be required to provide us with a valid medical certificate or death certificate of a family member.
• If you make a decision not to participate in the prize during the two week period prior to the booking, then, absent a medical certificate, you will be required to reimburse us for any expenses we may have incurred relating to your participation.
• The winner may be required to avail themselves for an interview with Vitality for the monthly newsletters during 2016/7 but will have the option to decline this if they so choose.
• Employees of the Discovery Group are not eligible to enter this competition.
• By entering the competition you confirm that there are no reasons to your knowledge that restrict you from participating and you confirm that you accept the indemnity reflected below.
• If we are unable to reach the winner for whatever reason following all reasonable attempts to do so, such winners will be disqualified and we reserve the right to draw another winner in substitution. We will contact you via email and/or telephone.
• By entering the competition and/or accepting any prize, the entrants and winner hereby indemnify us and the Discovery Group of Companies (including the holding company all subsidiaries and affiliates, their directors, employees, agents, suppliers and contractors – “the indemnified parties”) from and against any actions, claims and/or liability for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the competition, and/or the use, acceptance or possession of the prize or benefits and/or participation (or non-participation) in a prize-related activity including the race/s, whether as a result of unintended misrepresentation, misconduct, or otherwise, on the part of the Indemnified Parties.
• We may require the winner (at no fee to the winner) to be identified, photographed, filmed. These images may be published in any media with the winner’s consent.
• We may collect, store and use any personal information of entrants for communication or statistical purposes.

• We reserve the right to terminate the competition with immediate effect. In such event, all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against us and acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature against us or any entity of the Discovery Group of Companies.
• Entry into the competition implies acceptance of all the above rules.
• We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time with reasonable notice, and such amendment(s) shall be deemed to have taken effect from the date of publication of the revised terms and conditions, available on www.discovery.co.za.
