Taking part in race events supported by Discovery Vitality
This article is outdated (published in April 2016). Please refer to our most recent August 2016 points updates available here.
Race events are a great way for Vitality members to keep motivated to get fit and healthy.
Vitality members who participate in events, from running and cycling to swimming, get the benefit of improved health and fitness, as well as being able to enjoy the atmosphere and experience at a race event.
In order to ensure that our members receive the best possible experience from us, we will be revising the events that we include as Vitality endorsed races. These revisions aim to improve data integration and address issues related to inaccurate data and fitness points being wrongfully allocated to members.
Timed and verified race events
Vitality has partnered with several race timing companies to send us data directly from the races which they administrate. This update to our system will mean that as of 2 April 2016, members will be automatically allocated Vitality fitness points based on the data which we receive directly from these timing companies. As a result, you will no longer be able to upload race results in order to claim points for race events.
On the Vitality race event calendar, you’ll find a range of events from road and trail running, road and mountain biking, swimming as well as Discovery sponsored events which include various multisport races.
Moving to a seamless, verified points allocation process will mean that points will no longer be earned for adventure races, certain multisport races, paddling/surfski/canoeing events, and endurance horse riding. A reminder that this will not affect events that are sponsored by Discovery or are timed by our partner timing companies.
