We appreciate that the COVID-19 pandemic and the national lockdown may have impacted your ability to engage in healthy behaviour this year.
During this period, you may not have been able to complete activities such as your Vitality Health Check and Vitality Fitness Assessment, being tested for HIV, going for additional relevant screenings, and earning fitness points. Because of this, we are going to recognise the activity you did in 2019 across these areas and award you additional Vitality points where applicable.
Here's how it will work:
- You will be awarded the better of your 2019 or 2020 Vitality Health Check and Vitality Fitness Assessment Vitality points. If you have not yet completed one of these assessments this year and choose not to complete one before the end of the year, you will be awarded the same Vitality points that you earned last year. You do still have time to complete these assessments should you wish to, and completing them will allow you to better understand your health risks and fitness level, and maximise your HealthyFood, HealthyCare and HealthyGear rewards.
- Points for additional screenings, such as completing a pap smear, doing a colonoscopy, and going to the dentist will be awarded for 2020 if you were awarded points for completing these screenings last year. This includes completing an HIV test last year, where you will be awarded 1 000 Vitality points this year. Points will not be awarded for vaccinations, except for the flu vaccination which was in short supply this year. It is extremely important to do relevant health screenings regularly, as avoiding them could be harmful to your health. We urge you to go for your screenings again in the near future.
- For physical activity, you will be awarded the higher of the physical activity points that you earned over the period January to September 2019 or January to September 2020. You can continue earning Vitality points by getting active until the end of 2020 – through online workouts, virtual events, safely attending your local gym, and so much more. Remember, all points earned for physical activity for the remainder of 2020 will continue to count towards your status and your Vitality Active Rewards goals.
There's no action required from you - these additional points will be allocated to you by the end of October 2020. You will receive communication closer to the time that details how many points you received for screening and for physical activity.
